Scope

The Quality Manager will report to the MLCC General Manager with dotted line reporting to Calera’s Head of Quality. The Quality Manager will be responsible for all aspects of quality, business systems, and management of MLCC laboratory facilities. He/she is expected to develop best practices to produce high quality and traceable products and/or samples, compliance to business systems, efficient and controlled test schedules, and protocols and methods to achieve the necessary goals.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree (Chemistry or Engineering preferred)
• 5 years (minimum) in quality management in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in Cement industry required.
• Diligent, self-motivated, detail oriented and responsible attitude.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Good team player.
• Comfortable in a fast paced, pilot and high volume commercial manufacturing facility.
• Analytical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure product and sample quality and traceability through appropriate controls in manufacturing, in-process and final inspections, testing, and lot release.
• Lead business system design, implementation, and compliance through coaching and mentoring of personnel. Assure company wide compliance to business system. Schedule and perform routine internal audits. Oversee corrective, preventative, and continuous improvement activities.
• Implement and maintain document control and training systems and ensure compliance.
• Design and implement testing programs in concert with quality and business systems and implement database system to log/track plant analytical parameters to assure data and quality records are controlled and retrievable in a timely basis.
• Manage smooth operation of the analytical laboratory in routine and non-routine testing.
• Lead implementation and compliance to Design Control including writing protocols, procedures, reports, etc. as required.
• Establish and maintain high degree of communication with MLCC General Manager and Calera Head of Quality on quality and business system status at MLCC. Provide written summary reports to Calera as requested.
• Manage Quality budget.
• Design, implement, and maintain equipment calibration system.
• Ensure environmental compliance
• Add to the safety culture at Calera and keep laboratory and plant clean.
• Perform all training as required.
• Perform other tasks as required.

Moss Landing Cement Company (MLCC) was founded in May 2008 to develop new cement processing methods that are friendly to our environment. We believe that our new cement will become the construction material of choice in the near future and will have a dramatic impact in restoring our environment. Our facility is a test environment where we will prove and validate our unique processing methods. It offers state of the art machinery combined with traditional construction methodology, located in a large industrial lot that affords an indoor (office and production) and outdoor (construction and processing) work environment.
