The role involves electro-mechanical testing in the design and development of the world’s leading PV mounting systems. Typically, this includes fixed and tracking systems targeted at residential, commercial, and utility applications. The products are targeted for distribution through both internal direct sales channels and 3rd party distributor and installers.

The ideal person will have a deep understanding of engineering principles, concepts, and industry practices and wide-ranging experience in the planning, execution, and reporting of tests in the lab and in the field. Particular expertise with a variety of sensors, data acquisition systems, and data analysis is required. Knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and fabrication techniques is required. Prior experience with photovoltaic systems and the standard testing methods associated with reliability assessments and certifications will be valuable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Take a leadership role in the execution of complex engineering projects, providing guidance to more junior engineers
• Lead teams for product development testing, failure analysis, corrective/preventive action, and process or infrastructure improvements
• Work independently and with other engineers to establish testing requirements, and project targets.
• Develop plans, schedules and budgets for independent and small group projects
• Manage the planning and execution of high-level qualification test programs.
• Work with external consultants and internal resources to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Support the qualification of products from design to manufacturing.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• 7-12 years experience in electro-mechanical engineering testing
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
• In-depth knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• In-depth knowledge of testing systems for data collection, control of test apparatus, and data processing
• Hands-on prototyping capability
• Demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative solutions to complex problems
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
• CAD skills, SolidWorks preferred
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Machine shop or construction experience preferred
• Self motivated, with ability to work both independently and with multiple teams
