Background: Since 2001, Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development (Northwest SEED) has helped communities across the region implement community scale clean energy projects, including solar, wind and energy efficiency. Communities are motivated to pursue clean energy projects for many reasons, including energy security, job creation, economic development, and environmental preservation. However, they often lack the knowledge to identify, screen, and prioritize potential energy investments. Northwest SEED delivers the technical, business, and project management expertise to support communities in selecting, designing and implementing local energy projects. Northwest SEED is now seeking to ramp up our consulting services in communities and expand project implementation across the Northwest. Position Summary: Northwest SEED seeks a highly motivated individual to strategically create and strengthen partnerships with target communities and substantially increase the number of our community scale projects. Northwest SEED’s Business and Community Partnerships Manager will conduct a range of business development activities, including marketing and outreach efforts, coordination of key partners--businesses, utilities, and communities, and initial finance and technical feasibility screening. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Conduct outreach, networking and marketing to target communities. • Identify the most promising community clean energy opportunities. • Develop, coordinate, and support key partnerships in target communities. • Initiate and secure fee for service contracts. • Research funding opportunities, prepare funding proposals and respond to RFP’s to launch new community scale projects and initiatives. • Develop and maintain organizational and funding partnerships. • Strengthen the network of allied organizations and individuals supporting Northwest SEED’s mission. • Recruit donors, funders, investors, and supporters. • Participate in developing organizational goals, strategic plans, and program work plans. • Maintain and update Northwest SEED marketing materials and website. • Assist with and/or manage projects as needed. • Attend outreach and networking events on evenings and weekends as needed. Travel may be required. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. • Experience in outreach and marketing to communities, businesses, utilities and local governments. • Background in renewable energy and energy efficiency project and program design and management. • Successful history of developing collaborative partnerships that unite diverse interests. • Self-directed; able to manage tasks with minimal supervision. • Flexibility and willingness to assist program staff and travel as needed. • Proven interpersonal skills to work within a non-profit team environment. • A commitment to empowering community scale clean energy.
