Product Line Engineer spec Ready Solar Ready Solar offers the world’s first line of pre-assembled residential solar energy systems for distributors and large customers throughout the U.S. The company’s unique designs and support systems enable “out-of-the-box” installation and allow any electrician and most skilled contractors to become solar installers. Ready Solar is a privately held, entrepreneurial company seeking to dramatically expand the market for residential solar by lowering its installation cost. Responsibilities Ready Solar is seeking a Product Line Engineer to take the leadership role in managing the lifecycles of the company’s flagship product lines, the Ready Solar® and Solar in a Box® residential solar energy systems lines. The Product Line Engineer will be responsible for product management functions for these product families, including but not limited to: • Prioritizing and designing and/or sourcing product enhancements, • Developing requirements based on customer input and market data, testing new product elements (both theoretical and live testing), • Developing customer documentation and support materials, • Working with Sales and Production to identify new product and service enhancement opportunities. • Performing structural analysis for the overall product, for wind loading, airflow, cooling and other relevant environmental effects • Monitoring technical and cost trends in the solar industry and providing design direction on how to apply them to Ready Solar products • Develop, maintain and communicate product development schedules for the Ready Solar team Required Capabilities • BSME degree or higher • 5-8 years engineering or product management experience in a high quality, dynamic work environment • Finite element analysis (FEA) skills, including skill with a structural and airflow FEA tool, and the ability to interface with outside FEA contractors when needed • Solidworks, CAD or related modeling tool skills • Experience with a variety of structural metal fabrication methods including extruding, stamping, sheet metal forming, and others • Vendor/component analysis and sourcing skills • Ability to work cross-functionally to get things done quickly • Excellent written and verbal communications skills • Knowledge of product management processes and protocols • Creative thinker • A fast learner Highly Desired • Familiarity (professional or otherwise) with solar energy industry • Familiarity with building construction and building codes • Electrical engineering or high tech experience • Technical and IP documentation skills Compensation Depending on experience.
