The Company’s unique on-site power generation systems are among the most efficient on the planet, producing clean, reliable, affordable energy from a wide range of fuels. The company’s technology enables consumers to generate their own electricity for less than they pay their utility, and to reduce their carbon emissions dramatically.

The company is seeking a Director of New Product Introduction (NPI) to drive the release of next generation products. It is a critical role with high exposure to their executive staff and Board of Directors. The Director of NPI will, through personal expertise and the ability to provide strong technical leadership, ensure scalable product development with a focus on cost-effective design for manufacturability. A successful candidate will be able to manage the transition of new products from engineering to production to the market place with an exceptional level of quality, efficiency in order to exceed customer expectations.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide vision for the adoption of new technologies that improve product costs or performance, and provide entry into new markets.
Oversee the new product introduction process
Manage a group of ten to twenty highly technical manufacturing, test and NPI engineers.
Guide team members through complete NPI process; successfully manage products through production and into the marketplace
Ability to drive improvement in existing development processes to optimize our system to the needs of the business
Foster a collaborative work ethic within your team and with the product development and product marketing teams to understand product roadmaps, architect future fuel cell products, and explore new product ideas.

Essential Qualifications:

Experience with complete product lifecycle development, especially new product introduction (NPI); ideally in a high volume manufacturing environment
Experience setting up a structured product development process
Solid understanding of DFM principles
Project management experience with large, complex products (eg. “Big Iron”)
A systems thinker with a focus on quality and reliability
Experience managing engineering professionals
Experience managing a geographically distributed team
Leadership ability to influence and drive technology decisions and results
Experience in any/all of the following: combustion, heat transfer, industrial design, materials science, R&D, advanced product and technology development

Desired Qualifications:

MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Electrical Engineering
10+ years in product development or new product introduction involving complex systems and controls
10+ years in a company where the speed of NPI was a critical success factor
