We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of experienced technology specialists in providing technology qualification, verification, and asset management support services to clients in the wind energy industry. This individual who must have both “hands on” and consulting management experience. Responsibilities include:
• Make presentations to clients.
• Support and contribute to the ongoing activities of the Technology Qualification and Asset Risk Management group.
• Evaluation of new turbine technologies (technology qualification).
• Support of turbine design activities including analysis of turbine loads, controls, dynamics, and aerodynamics.
• Root-cause analysis for turbine component and system failures.
• Assessment of remaining equipment condition, useful life and risk of failure.
• Design verification activities.
• Development of asset management tools such as condition based monitoring and reliability models for wind power plants.
• Analysis of wind turbine site suitability.
• Manage workflow of consulting work, including personnel assignments, work schedule, budget, and client satisfaction.
• Supervise personnel and work collaboratively across departments.
• Grow the organization by expanding services currently offered and developing new services.
• Review technical reports to ensure they meet client and company needs.
• Effectively communicate with clients.
• Develop training programs to train new members of the team and broaden the skills of existing team members.
• Develop proposals and budgets; recommend contracts for execution.
• Establish protocols to ensure work product quality within group.
• Share and continuously develop knowledge and best practices.
• Participate in industry events and ensure that the company and service offerings are well known and well respected in the wind industry.
• Maintain an understanding of the industry needs and how the company can serve those needs and suggest additional services or changes in service so that the company plays a role in advancing the state of the art in the wind industry.
• Recruit new employees and act to retain existing employees.
• Serve as a member of the company’s senior management team and provide strategic and tactical input to guide decision making.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field required. Masters degree in an engineering field preferred; equivalent experience acceptable.
• Minimum of three years of practical experience in an engineering consulting management position.
• Experience in one or more of the following:
a)Installing Towers and Instrumentation
b)Wind energy
c)Technology qualification
d)Technical support of operating assets
e)Technology analysis and verification
f)Root-cause failure analysis
g)Reliability analysis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proficiency in MS Office programs
• Ability to integrate diverse technical information into a clear understanding of risks and appropriate mitigation measures.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally to client offices, facility sites and conferences (typically less than 30% of work time).
