Position Description

The Director of Project Development is responsible for leading and directing the sales of utility and commercial scale PV systems. This responsibility includes directing the company’s sales strategies, setting and implementing regional goals and working closely with other functional leaders in the organization.

Position Location
Regional office currently located in Pennsylvania / New Jersey Market. Other locations considered. Approximate travel requirement of 50%

Responsibilities
• Achieve the company’s quarterly and yearly sales and profitability targets;
• Develop and evolve the company’s strategies, value proposition and prioritize initiatives to meet the company’s short and long term objectives;
• Lead the sales and business development efforts of commercial and utility scale solar projects from concept to contractual closure in municipal, utility, agriculture and commercial market segments;
• Plan and execute sales activities which support the established sales objectives and develop new opportunities for additional growth within budget;
• Plan and direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop multi-regional teams and achieve company targets;
• Prepare goals, budgets and weekly, quarterly, and annual sales related reports;
• Oversee proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, and contract negotiations;
• Work closely with senior team leaders in Engineering, Operations and Finance to develop and execute project opportunities. Collaborate with the company’s international headquarters and regional operations to effectively interface with all operational aspects of the business unit;
• Establish, build, and maintain relationships with key customers and partners;
• Develop and maintain in depth knowledge of PV technologies and competitive positioning;

MUST HAVE EITHER SOLAR OR RENEWABLES EXPERIENCE.

Qualifications
The Company is seeking a senior professional with a demonstrated track record of project development in the renewable energy sector. Individuals should possess:

• Relevant undergraduate degree (engineering, business, finance); MBA desired;
• Minimum of 5 years sales / project development experience in renewable energy sector; Solar preferred
• Established track record of closing commercial & utility scale projects;
• Strong understanding of engineering, construction, project development and management;
• Strong diplomatic and negotiation skills and proven experience negotiating multi-million/multi-hundred million dollar commercial agreements;
• Strong command of power plant project finance, power purchase agreements, and EPC contracts, including understanding of project drivers for customer and investor return requirements;
• Strong track record of building and managing teams within and across departments;
• Technical expertise and/or demonstrated understanding of solar engineering and construction issues to be able to generally assess the technical viability of projects; Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings a plus;
• Solid understanding of US energy markets, alternative energy credits, alternative energy portfolio standards, and policies and market forces affecting solar adoption.
