Company & Technology Overview:
The Company’s strategy is to develop, acquire, integrate and optimize technologies to improve the overall environmental footprint of power plants primarily those using coal.
The Company provides selective catalytic reduction (SCR) management and catalyst regeneration technologies for SCR systems used by coal and gas fired power plants to reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions. In addition, the Company provides mercury removal services in the coal fired electric generation market. This technology removes mercury, eliminates re-emission and remediates the mercury, while not affecting fly ash quality.
Position Overview:
Provide overall strategic and operational direction to the corporation’s technological planning and development function. The role is responsible for leading all engineering and commercial development activities. The role is also responsible for analyzing new technologies and the efforts leading to new or improved products. Work closely with the CEO to develop and implement long-range strategic objectives and operating policies and procedures to ensure attainment of corporate technology goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

o Manage and drive company IP portfolio
o Lead the execution of technology strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, customers, and external relationships
o Manage a top-flight technology/engineering team, oversee research and development, and lead project management
o Provide visible technical leadership for the company within the global coal fired utility/power plant sector
o Anticipate and react to major technology changes to ensure the maintenance of company leadership in the competitive landscape
o Seek opportunities for establishing new R&D programs as well as running current R&D with a focus on obtaining funding from related government agencies
o Manage an existing group of engineers and R&D personnel while continuing to recruit and hire additional R&D talent
o Stay linked into the engineering/technology community as an expert
o Manage joint technology agreements
o Provide overall responsibility for the long-range direction of technological planning roadmap and development
o Oversee the R&D efforts leading to new or improved products
o Determine criteria for screening new product ideas for potential and practicality
o Direct and manage overall product development plan so that new products or improved products are delivered to market on a timely basis
o Oversee the company's total quality management program. Coordinates quality control policies and procedures throughout the organization
o Assist CEO in the development of corporate strategies and strategic objectives as well as operating policies and procedures ensuring attainment of these corporate objectives
o Ensure that plans and policies are understood and administered by management team
o Assumes other special projects/assignments as directed by the CEO

Background and Skills:

o Advanced degree in Engineering / Science
o Viewed as industry expert in the coal fired utility/power plant industry
o Strong experience & knowledge of the whole power plant – boilers, scrubbers, SCR’s, etc. –a holistic view – an understanding for all of the technologies/equipment in the plant and how it all works together (coal pile to stack)
o Strong commercial experiences
o Innovative leader – always looking at different and/or better ways of doing things
o Integrating technologies- capable of assessing new technologies and figuring out how they can apply in the big picture – integrating the new technology into the existing offering
o Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to effectively direct the company's overall technology operations in order to maximize revenues and profits
o Excellent management skills with in-depth knowledge of company's development and design procedures and objectives
o In-depth knowledge of financial and legal principles and practices
o International experience a plus
