OPPORTUNITY IN SWITZERLAND FOR ATTORNEY WITH STRONG EUROPEAN CONNECTIONS

Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd (NYSE: STP) is looking for a junior to mid-level legal counsel (three to six years experience) to be based outside of Zurich in Schaffhausen, Switzerland who will be responsible for assisting in legal affairs in the EME (Europe, Middle East) region. The attorney will be the first member of the Suntech legal staff to be based in Europe. We are seeking candidates with prior experience in one or more of the following areas which will encompass the attorney’s primary responsibilities:

• Negotiating, drafting and reviewing commercial agreements, such as sales contracts and supply agreements;
• Structuring and managing development of regional offices across Europe and the Middle East, including review of employment issues across the region;
• Preparation and filing of necessary registrations for the company to do business across the region;
• Directing litigation;
• Overseeing compliance and corporate governance for Europe;
• Advising management on general corporate and commercial legal issues;
• Managing intellectual property issues;
• Assistance from time to time with M&A transactions.

Ideal candidates may include a European law school graduate working with a U.S. law firm/multinational or a U.S. trained attorney from Europe who are interested in relocating back to Europe.

In addition to top technical skills, the candidate must have a common sense approach to practice, be highly motivated, have a strong sense of accountability and responsibility, and excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Additionally, an ability to work at least initially without a large on-site team or support staff, as well as an ability to work under pressure, are key. Secondary language skills in German or Spanish are preferred. Familiarity with alternative energy businesses and Chinese language skills are a plus.
