Position posting: Sustainability Engineer Brendle Group seeks an engineer for consulting projects related to all aspects of our sustainability practice, with an emphasis on carbon accounting and building energy systems. The ability to understand and integrate engineering services with customers’ broader sustainability goals is required. This includes integrating across key topics of energy, water, transportation, and materials management. It also means integrating engineering services across the embedded and interconnected systems in which our customers operate – processes, buildings, company, neighborhoods, districts, city, county, state, region, globe. Understanding and applying triple bottom analysis is also desired, as well as understanding both technology and policy approaches toward sustainability. Position Responsibilities • Develop greenhouse gas inventories, forecasts, and plans for companies, local governments, and communities using recognized protocols and tools • Conduct resource efficiency (mainly energy plus water and waste) assessments for a variety of commercial customers, identify and develop efficiency opportunities • Conduct engineering and climate impact calculations, perform cost-benefit analyses, etc. • Effectively execute on various projects in coordination with senior staff and project managers • Data collection, technical analysis, and reporting Required Qualifications and Experience While the position title is sustainability engineer, we would consider applicants without an engineering degree that have proven experience and a related degree in climate accounting or resource conservation. Recognizing the wide-ranging sustainability topics covered in this description, we’re seeking professionals with a solid and broad understanding of sustainability, but with depth of knowledge in climate accounting and/or energy systems as top priorities. And although the application might suggest a more senior person, junior applicants with degrees related to sustainability and 1-2 years of professional experience are encouraged to apply.
