Role Summary/Purpose
The Senior Smart Grid Software Architect will act as the key point of contact for all technical matters regarding implementation, validation, and deployment of Smart Grid software system solutions. This role will architect Smart Grid solutions that ensure interoperability as well as customer requirements are met. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the assigned program manager to ensure system quality attributes of the proposed system are met.

Essential Responsibilities
-Lead the translation of customer requirements into actionable project specific system requirements and architecture
-Translate top-level Smart Grid interoperability requirements down to subsystem and individual product requirements
-Ensure GE and 3rd party products meet or exceed interoperability requirements for the system
-Work with software and hardware project engineering managers to ensure final implementations customer requirements
-Align customer project system architecture with GE Smart Grid vision
-Develop system level test plans and procedures and certify fully integrated system quality attributes are met
-Stay abreast with GE Smart Grid current & emerging products and technologies
-Collaborate with other architects and engineers to share best practices and ensure consistent Smart Grid project execution methodologies

Qualifications/Requirements
-B.S. degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Computer Science, Software, Information Management, or other discipline
-Minimum of 10 years of experience in architecture, design, and implementation of large scale software systems and/or minimum of 10 years of applied experience in utility control room IT systems
-Six Sigma Green Belt Certified (GE employees only)

-Demonstrated success in leading technical teams and individuals in a matrix organization
-Superior analytical skills and communication (written and oral) skills
-Expert knowledge of system engineering, requirement management, and program management tools and methodologies
-Black Belt Certification (GE Only)
-Knowledge and solid understanding of current and emerging Smart Grid standards (IEC 61970, 61968, 61950, NIST, NERC-CIP, etc.)
-Experience in the integration of large scale T&D systems (EMS, DMS, OMS, SA, DA, MMS, AMI, GIS, etc)
-Knowledge and applied experience in the implementation of enterprise software systems
-Experience in dealing with vendors and competitors of equipment, services, and products in the electric utility industry
-Proven success at working with senior engineering leaders and driving change in that environment
