Role Summary/Purpose The Smart Grid Software Systems Engineers will utilize knowledge and experience in software architecture and design of complex software systems. In this role you will utilize your domain expertise in the T&D industry, and utilize your ability to transform business requirements into system technical requirement, prepare system conceptual designs, and identify alternative solutions that will bring those concepts to reality. Essential Responsibilities - Demonstrate outstanding growth traits - Work with fellow Smart Grid systems engineers, prospective Smart Grid customers, product management organizations, T&D strategic marketing, and leaders of software product development teams to define requirements, architecture, and identify solutions for Smart Grid software solutions, with special focus on the software service infrastructure, and service definitions for Smart Grid applications - Develop clear and consistent system level artifacts for customer and project engineering teams Works with software architects to select appropriate paradigms and technologies for interoperability among system components - Stay abreast with current & emerging Smart Grid technologies & vertical industry needs - Ensure system data models and interface requirements for new systems and improvements to existing software systems are being met by actively engaging in the review of key software product development designs and tollgate reviews - Ensure software systems engineering principles and requirements are met by the software development teams - Be directly involved in software prototype activities to prove technical feasibility of Smart Grid Software Solutions - Work with quality team to ensure appropriate level of system level test plans and procedures to certify fully integrated system quality attributes Qualifications/Requirements - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering - Minimum10 years experience in the development of large scale, complex software system solutions Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work.
