Posted Position Title Smart Grid ITO / OTR Senior Systems Engineer Career Level Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment Product Design and Development Location United States U.S. State or China Province Georgia City Atlanta Postal Code 30339-8402 Relocation Expenses Full Expenses Role Summary/Purpose The Smart Grid ITO / OTR Senior Systems Engineer will work in partnership with the Smart Grid Commercial Team to develop processes allowing GE to respond efficiently and competitively to Smart Grid RFQ’s. In this role you shall act in a consulting role to the Smart Grid Commercial Team to develop system architectural templates for system solutions to Smart Grid and Smart City projects. Essential Responsibilities Based on specific RFQ’s the ITO / OTR Senior Systems Engineer shall refine the architectural templates to provide the optimal Smart Grid or Smart City Systems solution to the customer Be a recognized domain expert in electric transmission and distribution automation, with a broad knowledge of EMS,DMS, OMS & GIS; and have the ability to translate functional system requirements into executable system concepts, and to identify the alternatives to bring those concepts to reality Be expected to be a highly creative, top technical contributor for the advancement of the GE Energy Services Smart Grid business Drive new customer requirements into New Product Introduction (NPI) requirements: -Work with the System Engineering Smart Grid Development Team to develop architectural templates for Smart Grid and Smart City commercial proposals -Work with Smart Grid Commercial Team to develop ITO / OTR processes for bidding large Smart Grid & Smart City Projects -Work with Smart Grid Commercial Team to develop Smart Grid & Smart City architectural templates for use in RFQ’s -Work with Smart Grid Commercial Team in a consultancy role to provide systems solutions to specific RFQ requirements -Ensure GE proposals reflect accurate system and NPI delivery dates -Work with System Validation & Integration Testing Team to develop project specific test and validation plans -Drive new and future customer needs gleaned from ITO / OTR process into NPI requirements -Drive interoperability, utilizing established & emerging standards, between GE system components including interoperability with competitor system components -Actively search for and apply synergies within the GE businesses to share & reuse control system technologies, processes, & best practices -Participate in opportunity reviews (R calls) to insure that the system requirements are being met Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Computer Science Minimum 10 years of Transmission and Distribution automation experience Minimum 5 years technical leadership experience in Transmission and Distribution systems design Minimum 5 years of experience interpreting Transmission and Distribution technical requirements as well as global regulatory requirements Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Desired Characteristics Firm understanding of IT systems for utility operational systems and enterprise systems Experience and expertise in multiple engineering disciplines including utility automation and IT systems Strong understanding of the global Utility T&D automation commercial market, customer practices and preferences as well as competitors of GE Deep experience with the ITO / OTR processes for Smart Grid and Smart City proposals Strong understanding of business processes such as NPI, Multi-Generation product planning, financial processes & planning, organizational reviews Experience in dealing with vendors and competitors of equipment, services, and products in the T&D automation field Proven success at working with Commercial leaders and driving change in that environment Black Belt Certification (GE employees only) Why join one great company when you can join many?
