Role Summary/Purpose The Smart Grid Lead GUI Software Engineer is responsible for designing, sustaining and issue resolution of T&D product line for Smart Grid sub-station automation, smart meters, and transformer monitoring and diagnostics. In this role, you will be focused on the developing of new applications, as well as, integration and communications between these system, sub-systems and the smart grid backbone. You will also be focused on the GUI development of those systems. Essential Responsibilities Develop GUI for Smart Grid systems/applications for use by utility customers and end users Work jointly with integrated GE T&D - HTC (India) / U.S design teams Design, development & testing of GUI for Smart Grid systems Development of new and existing applications using Java, .NET (Javascript, Ajax; RIA, Flex, JavaFX, Silverlight; Desktop; WinForms, Swing) Develop conceptual designs and detailed designs in accordance with established engineering processes, submit design code for reviews, and update the designs as required as a result from reviews Develops standard user interfaces that are consistent and have a common look and feel; develop new technology relevant to the industry and T&D products and identifies ways to apply that technology in new products Resolve field issues and quality issues through analysis and design changes Creating required design documentation as per NPI Guidelines Qualifications/Requirements BS or MS in engineering (preferably Computer Science) 5+ years of hands on experience in GUI Design & Development using object oriented programming languages 5+ years experience in Java or .Net programming (JavaScript, Ajax; RIA, Flex, JavaFX, Silverlight; Desktop; WinForms, Swing) 5+ years experience in development, including the following areas building GUI for hardware / software systems, open source package integration, CIM and its application to system integration and development Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Desired Characteristics Familiar with UML, XSD, XML, and WSDL 2+ years experience in SOA 4+ years experience in Development & Debugging Tools such as Simulators 3+ years experience in protocols (Modbus, DNP, IEC61850, IEC60870, etc) Ability to energize, develop, and build rapport at all levels within an organization Capacity of listening (end users), and synthesizing needs understanding in a multi-cultural environment Strong interpersonal skills, tenacity and patience to develop long-term customer relationships Organized, ability to multi-task and stay organized High energy, self-starter, with a proven track record in delivering results Green Belt Certified (GE only) Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills Demonstrated ability to guide multiple parts of a matrix organization to the achievement of one vision Strong understanding of SDLC process Should possess strong written and verbal communication skills Understanding of data structures and coding practices that make optimal use of available memory and CPU resources When you apply, make sure you mention that you saw the job at Clean Edge Jobs!
