For additional information please view our website at http://fraunhofer-cse.org About the Position: The Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) located in Cambridge, MA is looking for a Building Materials Scientist to join its Building Energy Efficiency Group. This is an opportunity to work with one of the world’s leading research groups, including our partners at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP), to develop, model, test, and evaluate cutting-edge building efficiency solutions for a wide variety of clients. You'll be a key part of a dynamic team that shares a commitment to engineering excellence, combined with an excitement about sustainable energy technology. Principal Responsibilities: • Identify promising opportunities to apply novel materials to building systems • Analyze the energy performance, cost, and durability impact of applying advanced materials to building envelope systems and components • Assess the real-world viability of novel building envelope systems and components • Contribute to proposals to apply, test, and evaluate the performance of novel materials to building systems and components • Lead the materials characterization effort in the context of building applications.
