POSITION SUMMARY Business success depends on people – talented, motivated, agile people. To ensure this success, the Agency Chief Safety Officer administers a safety and occupational health program structured to deal effectively with a full range of hazards inherent in the construction, maintenance, and operation of a high voltage electric utility system involving approximately 3200 employees with significantly varied occupations and experience in a 300,000 square mile area. This position: • Directs the design, development and implementation of a broad range of Safety programs to meet agency goals • Serves as the senior technical advisor on all Safety and Occupational Health processes and procedures • Partners and collaborates with top agency officials across the organization to assure effective implementation of program goals and objectives • Ensures compliance with BPA and DOE Safety objectives, OHSA regulations and other applicable federal, state and local requirements • Oversees inspections, investigations and appraisals and makes recommendations concerning safe work practices and procedures • Serves as the Executive Secretary of the Central Safety and Health Committee If you are a motivated adaptable professional with exceptional leadership skills who likes challenge, cherishes responsibility for results and desires a rewarding and secure change, please consider becoming the new Agency Chief Safety Officer with BPA. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have had a total of 1 year specialized experience that has equipped them with the particular knowledge’s, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that involved: 1. Setting strategy for, planning, organizing, managing, and evaluating an organization or company-wide program and providing leadership, direction, and supervision to the staff engaged in administering that program. AND 2. Direct responsibility for accident prevention in high voltage (at least 69kV) electrical work gained through journey-level experience in one of the following crafts: Power System Electrician, Transmission Lineman, Substation Operator, Power System Dispatcher, System Communication or Protection Craftsman, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
