U.S. Metro Clean Tech Index
Tracking Clean-Tech Leadership at the City Level
Building on the success of the State Clean Energy Index which tracks clean-energy activities at the state level, Clean Edge is introducing the U.S. Metro Clean Tech Index. This new subscription-based benchmarking service, geared toward city and metro level stakeholders, tracks the clean-tech activities of the top 50 metro regions in the U.S.
U.S. Metro Index Structure
The Metro Index includes nearly two dozen indicators in four categories: green buildings; advanced transportation; clean electricity & carbon management; and clean-tech investment, innovation, & workforce. Quantitative indicators are levelized to account for population size/activity and include a broad range of benchmarks including green building deployment, clean vehicles in use, advanced transportation infrastructure, public transportation ridership, regional electricity mix, GHG emissions, venture capital investment, clean energy patents, and clean economy jobs.
